Editorial Policy

What we promise about every piece of content on Check And Shop.

Independence

Our editorial decisions are made independently of our commercial relationships. No brand, agency or retailer pays for placement, ranking position or favourable coverage. Affiliate commissions exist after the recommendation is made, not before.

Research process

  1. We start every buying guide by mapping the category — typical price bands, key specs that matter, common buyer complaints.
  2. We pull the bestseller lists from Amazon India and Flipkart and filter to products with at least 500 verified-purchase reviews and a 4.0-star average.
  3. We read both the highest-rated and lowest-rated reviews to find real-world issues that spec sheets hide.
  4. We check 30-day price history to weed out fake "discounts" off inflated MRPs.
  5. Where possible, we test products ourselves or consult a tester who has owned the product for at least a month.
  6. We write the final round-up only after this filtering — typically 80% of products on a bestseller list never make our cut.

Fact-checking

Specs, prices and ratings are checked against the official retailer page on the day of publication. Our automated systems re-verify stock status, pricing and current rating multiple times per week and flag posts that need a refresh.

Corrections

Found a mistake? Email hello@checkandshop.com and we will correct verified errors within 48 hours. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the post with the date.

Updates

Buying guides are reviewed at least every 90 days and refreshed sooner when a major product launches in the category. The "Last updated" date is shown on every post.

Sources

When we cite a specific claim (e.g. battery capacity, charging speed, warranty period), the source is either the manufacturer's official specification page or the verified retailer listing. We do not republish manufacturer marketing claims without independent verification.

AI use

We may use AI tools to help draft, summarise or translate sections — but every published article is reviewed and edited by a human editor before it goes live. We do not publish unsupervised AI output.

Conflicts of interest

If an editor has a personal or financial interest in a product (for example, they own equity in the brand), they recuse themselves from that round-up. We will disclose any such relationship on the post itself.
